As a news journalist you will source and break exclusive stories and provide in-depth analysis online and in print for our newsbrands, Sunday Life and Belfast Telegraph.
You will write high-quality, unique news stories/analysis and innovative online content within the multi-media newsroom. You will have a wide network of contacts that you will continue to develop.
Role Responsibilities (Overview)
Consistently break stories and write informative analysis
Create and write up-to-date, accurate, balanced and engaging multimedia content
Work collaboratively and contribute to wider editorial teams within the Belfast Telegraph newsroom
Ensure a high level of fast, accurate, fair and engaging journalism
Ensure that our output reflects the audiences that we serve - and helps to grow subscriptions online and support print circulation
Planning and advising desks of relevant upcoming events and potential angles on stories
Delivering content to tight deadlines
Also handle general assignment and fast news as directed
Ability to contribute to podcasts as required and provide video or social media content
Carry out your duties at all times in accordance with the Mediahuis Editorial Code of Practice and relevant professional and legal codes
Experience working as a journalist and breaking stories
Good contacts
Good knowledge of current affairs and issues affecting Northern Ireland
Ability to provide video or audio content if required
