We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our accountancy firm. This is an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to develop skills in an accountancy firm or looking to build on their initial experience in a supportive and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Processing day-to-day bookkeeping transactions for a range of clients
Posting invoices, receipts, and payments to accounting systems
Reconciling bank accounts and maintaining accurate financial records
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Matching supplier payments and providing insight for credit control
Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve discrepancies
Supporting the preparation of accounts for sole traders and small limited companies
Maintaining organised client files and documentation
Responding to routine client queries
Supporting senior team members with various accounting tasks
Essential Requirements
Able to demonstrate numeracy and logical thinking skills with relevant qualifications such as Mathematics, Business and Finance or AAT Level 2/3.
Some experience in bookkeeping or an accountancy practice environment (or relevant education)
Basic understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
Competency with Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
Willingness to learn accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational and time management skills
Excellent communication skills and a professional approach
Desirable Skills
Experience using cloud-based accounting software
Knowledge of VAT and basic tax principles
Currently studying towards AAT Level 3 or 4
