The A Side: A Day in The Life
The A&R Administration team is a central function at the heart of Universal Music UK; the quiet engine behind the creative process, supporting our artists and label teams by handling the essential details that bring music to life. Each person in the team brings a sharp eye for detail, a deep understanding of music industry operations, and a calm solution focused mindset.
Coordinating the seamless delivery of music from studio to release, the Junior A&R Administration Manager will assume administrative responsibility for releases across their allocated in-house label, ensuring process is followed with full alignment to UMG's administration strategy and standards.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be administrativeCentral point of contact for all A&R Admin in relation to domestically signed artists.
Maintain musician consent forms and Recording Information forms as part of Producer delivery requirements, for all recordings.
Close daily liaison with artist managers on all aspects.
Attend weekly scheduling meeting and occasionally, label or planning meetings.
Be OperationalCo-ordinate allocated recording projects from start to finish overseeing every aspect.
Organise logistics for a recording session, from writing sessions to booking mastering.
Negotiate competitive rates and deal terms around album production including producers, mixers, musicians, engineers, studios, equipment, remixes and mastering.
Issue deal memos / agreements for producers/mixers or remixers, highlighting points of precedent for discussion with Head of A&R Administration.
Oversee the artist travel to recording sessions booked by A&R Assistants.
Co-ordinate audio archiving process, ensuring all audio is delivered, logging all masters with the audio storage facility.
Run recording budgets per Artist agreement, requesting increases via the Finance Director.
Work closely with A&R Managers updating them on budgets, deal negotiations and audio deadlines.
Obtain artist management approval on all spends/recording and release activities.
Prepare for bi-monthly in-depth A&R Finance meeting, presenting figures.
Create projects and logging budgets in UniPort once approved, paying supplier invoices on time, while monitoring overall recording budget spend.
Monitor release schedules, supervise label copy collation and R2 metadata input, and ensure Artist approval on label copy.
Co-ordinate A&R input for the initiation process on each release on the schedule, working closely with the Marketing assistants.
Pre-empt unscheduled production deadlines to ensure timely delivery of repertoire, communicating timelines to A&R team and troubleshooting issues or potential delays
Co-ordinate delivery of audio for physical, digital, atmos releases to production within Universal standards of format delivery
Supervise the issue of all remix agreements and parts distribution by A&R Assistants, advising them in this process. Ensure all remix budgets updated accordingly.
Person Specification
NecessaryA proven track record within a similar role
A strong ability to negotiate and problem solve
Excellent IT skills; must be proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
Proven experience of working to strict deadlines and excellent organisational skills
Experience of working on own as well as part of a team
