Junior Buyer

Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Location: Fareham

Salary: 26,000 - 32,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Contract: 6-month initial contract with the view to go permanent

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to support the Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will assist in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services to ensure cost-effective, timely, and high-quality supply to the business.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the procurement of materials, components, and services in line with company requirements.

Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures.

Support supplier negotiations to achieve competitive pricing and favourable terms.

Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and quality, escalating any issues to the Supply Chain Manager.

Work closely with internal departments (production, planning, finance) to ensure purchasing activities support operational needs.

Maintain accurate records within the ERP/MRP system.

Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a purchasing or supply chain role is desirable but not essential.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Confident using Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/MRP systems advantageous.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
