Quest Search & Selection are partnering with this leading supply chain & food procurement organisation based in the UK. Their clients will include foodservice sites and hospitality partners who would purchase food, ingredients and everything in-between! This business work closely with their clients to deliver expert procurement services saving them both time and money and offering a unique purchasing power as their suppliers range from the most recognised brands in the industry to local providers.

They are looking for a skilled Buyer that will support the category manager with their development of the end-to-end procurement process for the core food Produce category team.

Key responsibilities of Junior Buyer \xe2\x80\x93 Food:

• You will support the Produce Category team to execute a long-term food vision to deliver sustainable improvements.
• Identifying potential new suppliers, visiting, and meeting existing suppliers, build supplier relationships
• You will support the Produce category teams by submitting monthly insight on industry trends
• Support upload of monthly price files for our external clients onto our procurement systems
• Benchmark pricing and prepare for sourcing and tender activity.
• Regularly review supplier performance to support category growth
• Manage category related queries from internal and external stakeholders
• Support their sales and bid teams with content

Key requirements of Junior Buyer \xe2\x80\x93 Food:

• 2+ years of experience in buying or food procurement/sourcing ideally from an established retail, contract catering or supplier background.
• Ideally you have experience within Fruit, Salad or Vegetables but this is not essential
• Experience working with suppliers and managing contracts
• Has experience tendering & negotiating contract
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Able to make decisions and able to work under pressure
• Good analytical skills with good knowledge of Excel
