Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join our UK & Ireland Procurement Team. The ideal candidate will play a key role supporting the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager in delivering procurement strategies for the Company. The role will involve sourcing of raw materials, supplier negotiations and the management of inventory. The role will also contribute to the objectives of securing optimal trading arrangements for the Company, whilst ensuring sufficient materials are consistently available to meet production demand.

Duties

Provide support in supplier negotiations, providing cost analysis, evaluating offers and finalising agreements Assist in identifying and qualifying new suppliers in compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards Collaborate with Quality Assurance and R&D to ensure all purchased items meet food safety and quality standards Support the management of inventory of all raw materials by reviewing forecast demand and issuing purchase orders to suppliers Track open orders, expediting where necessary Progress deliveries with supplier and Stores as appropriate Support the delivery of regional and global procurement initiatives by collaborating with cross-functional teams contributing to the successful implementation of global projects Monitor and maintain accurate records of supplier contracts Collaborate with the Finance department to ensure timely invoice approval and proactively resolve any queries that may arise

Essential Criteria

Previous experience (within the past 12 months) working within purchasing or supply chain environment Strong IT skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP or inventory management systems, e.g. Sage 200 Ability to prioritise tasks in a deadline-driven, production-focused environment, Strong organisation and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication Analytical and numerate, Excellent attention to detail Willingness to undertake negotiation skills training

Desirable Criteria

Knowledge of producers and distributors in the food ingredients and packaging sectors, Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment or FMCG industry
