Job Description

This role will assist in purchasing direct materials with limited indirect product/spend, supplies and services at favorable terms for the organization. The position assists in qualifying vendors, evaluating bids, and negotiating prices and terms for purchased goods and services. This position will be expected to track purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a current database of vendor information.

A critical aspect of this role is strong analytical capability, requiring confidence in handling data and making data-driven decisions to enhance cost efficiency, supplier performance, and overall outcomes. The position also supports organizational projects and initiatives, helping to streamline processes and strengthen relationships in alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:



Obtains goods/services required by the organization including Indirect Operations (e.g., Office Supplies, Computers, Maintenance, Machine Parts, etc.) and Direct Operations (e.g., Raw Materials and Services for Manufacturing, Production or Construction; Products for Retail, etc.). Procurement processes include Product/Service Sourcing, Supplier Selection, Pricing/Terms Negotiation, Order Processing, Contract Administration, Supplier Performance Management. May include Strategic Sourcing. Become our Change Champion supporting project loading/tracking & ECN outputs. This is a role focused on driving and facilitating the adoption of new processes, systems, or changes within an organization. Actively championing the new procedures for project management and ECNs among colleagues. Identifies, researches, and evaluates suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Recognizes and evaluates sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices. Assesses supplier's products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet the organization's quality standards. Analyses and evaluates supplier bids, tenders, proposals, or quotations; negotiates prices and delivery conditions; and commits to purchases (within established limits of authority) with terms that are in the organization's best interest. Interprets inventory requests, production schedules, purchase requisitions, orders, and other documents to co-ordinate purchasing activities in view of current and anticipated demand for goods and materials. Monitors the quality and timeliness of materials and goods supplied; follows up the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery; and communicates status of orders with internal customers.

Qualifications:



The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. While no prior experience is necessary for those with a degree, candidates without one should have at least four years of relevant experience in a similar role.
