Role Overview:
This position may suit a candidate with 2+ years' experience in an IT support role who is looking for a career development opportunity or has just graduated from university. As a Junior Computer Systems & Support Engineer you will work in an engineering environment, taking responsibility for computing systems used in both customer-deliverable flight simulators & in-house software development rigs. You will be working as part of a small, multi-skilled team.
Main responsibilities:
Maintenance and support of computers, network switches, and aircraft systems for simulators & development rigs.
Set-up and configuration of computers, network switches, etc for simulators & development rigs.
Windows and Linux Systems Administration tasks.
Assisting in the selection of new / replacement computing solutions.
Performing evaluations of new / replacement computing solutions.
Day-to-day support tasks for development rigs, including responding to support tickets from internal customers/engineers.
Equipment audits and metrics capture.
Running backups and carrying our disk rotations of development rigs.
Support of Integration and Testing activities on simulators.
Support of Hardware and Software Baseline Management activities.
What you will bring:
Knowledge of PC and network hardware & software installation and set-up / configuration.
Basic experience of Windows and Linux system administration activities.
Basic experience / understanding of virtual machines; VMware and Hyper-V.
Ability to understand technical documentation.
An aptitude for problem solving.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to read & write technical English.
Self-motivated and able to work with a minimal level of supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors at all times.
Team player, open minded, honest, motivated and proactive in moving the company forward.
Displays energy, drive, agility, and resilience in achieving work-related goals.
Able to undertake periods of shift work, if necessary/required.

A moderate level of physical fitness is required as this job role will include running cables, lifting heavy computers and at times working in restrictive spaces.

Experience and Qualifications:
A minimum 2 years' appropriate experience, for example in an IT Support role. Minimum qualification; A-Level in Computer Science or equivalent IT course.
If no experience, minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT related course.
An interest in aviation, aircraft and flight simulators is beneficial.
