The Role

We're looking for a Junior Design Engineer to join our growing design and manufacturing team in Barnstaple, Devon.
You'll be responsible for:

Designing and developing custom rugged case systems in SolidWorks. Creating detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings. Preparing sheet metal manufacturing data for subcontractors. Generating CAM toolpaths for foam machining (Bsuite and Fusion 360). Assisting in the setup and operation of our CNC router. Supporting prototype builds, product testing, and design validation.
This is a hands-on role offering exposure to the full design and production process -- ideal for someone looking to grow within a close-knit engineering team.

Requirements

HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or similar. Skilled in SolidWorks (experience in other CAD systems welcome). Understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerancing, and manufacturing methods. Basic knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and assembly. Strong attention to detail and solid technical drawing skills.

Desirable Skills

Experience with CAM programming (Bsuite or Fusion 360). Familiarity with CNC routers and foam machining. Training will be provided. Knowledge of EMC shielding design for electronic enclosures. Understanding of electronic design principles or basic circuit assembly, for integrating electronics into cases. Experience with rugged or defence-related product design is a plus.
