Our story began during a road trip in the 1990s, where our founders, Will and Andy, travelled across America collecting vintage items while living out of motels. They started purchasing vintage clothing in the USA and selling it wholesale, which eventually led to the creation of stores. From there, they began designing reworked vintage pieces, and thus, Motel was born.
Over 30 years and a team of 200+ people later, every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun, freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. We're still ambitious and independent, but now we're a global team - we work from an operational base in Worcester, a design studio in London and a creative studio in Bali.
The role
We're looking for a Junior Graphic Designer to help the team drive forward the look and feel of the Motel brand across all channels. From website visuals and marketing campaigns to motion graphics and AI-driven ideas, your creativity will directly shape how our customers see and experience Motel.
We're growing fast and need dedicated design support that can move fast, stay on brand and explore new creative possibilities. You'll also have opportunities to work with our Bali team, bridging any gaps on major projects and ensuring our creative output is consistently world-class.
Main tasks & responsibilities
You'll be a great fit for this role if you're versatile and comfortable creating on-brand assets across multiple channels, such as:
Leading the way in levelling up our content through the creation of motion graphics and videos for Motel's marketing channels
Leveraging AI tools in design workflows to create AI-generated concepts and content e.g. MidJourney, DALLE etc.
Working closely with our Lead Graphic Designer to produce on-time, on-brand creative assets for marketing campaigns, website, email, paid ads, and social media
Designing engaging graphics and layouts for product launches, promotions and brand storytelling
Collaborating with the Creative team to ensure visuals support wider marketing and business goals
Assisting in maintaining and evolving Motel's visual identity across all customer touchpoints
Working closely with the Bali team to help maintain fast turnaround times and high-quality outputs on major creative projects
Staying up-to-date with design trends, fashion aesthetics and digital innovations to bring fresh inspiration to Motel
About you
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
A strong design portfolio showcasing creative flair, attention to detail and versatility across digital formats
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) with working knowledge of After Effects or similar for motion graphics and videos
Experience in using AI creative tools (Midjourney, Runway, Figma AI etc.) (This is a big plus!)
A keen eye for typography, colour and layout with a strong awareness of current design and fashion trends
Comfortable working at pace in a fast-moving e-commerce environment, balancing multiple projects and tight deadlines
Open, collaborative and proactive communicator -- happy to take feedback, share ideas, and work closely within the Motel team
Organised, detail-oriented, and motivated to deliver high-quality creative every time
Passion for fashion and ability to understand Motel's aesthetic and values
A growth mindset -- eager to learn, experiment, and develop new skills (motion graphics, AI, campaign ideation)
