Position Brief



We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior HR & Office Support to join our Head Office Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their HR career to gain hands-on experience and grow within a supportive and dynamic environment. You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR department, contributing to a positive employee experience and ensuring smooth HR processes.

Key Responsibilities



HR Administration

Maintain and update employee records both digitally and physically. Prepare HR documents such as employment contracts, offer letters, and onboarding packs. Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and legal requirements. Assist in maintaining accurate absence and holiday records.

Recruitment Support

Post job adverts on various platforms and track applications. Set up online assessments to link to job adverts Schedule interviews and liaise with candidates and hiring managers. Assist in preparing interview materials and coordinating feedback. Support pre-employment checks including references and right-to-work documentation.

Onboarding & Offboarding

Coordinate onboarding activities including induction schedules and welcome communications. Ensure new starters are set up with necessary systems and equipment. Assist in exit interviews and offboarding documentation. Update HR systems (Smartsheet) to reflect employee status changes.

HR Systems & Data Management

Input and maintain employee data in BrightHR & our Smartsheet Planner; HR: Employee Hub. Keep track of active Grievances, Incidents and Disciplinary Plans Generate regular reports on HR metrics such as turnover, absence, and training. Ensure data accuracy and confidentiality in line with GDPR and company policy.

Employee Relations & Support

Act as a first point of contact for general HR queries. Provide guidance on basic HR policies and procedures. Escalate complex issues to senior HR staff as needed. Support employee engagement initiatives and feedback collection.

Training & Development

Assist in scheduling internal and external training sessions. Maintain training records and track completion rates. Help prepare training materials and coordinate logistics.

Compliance & Policy Support

Help ensure HR policies are up to date and accessible to staff. Support audits and compliance checks as required. Assist in implementing health and safety and equality policies.

Event Coordination

Support planning and execution of HR-related events such as wellness days, team-building activities, and recognition programs. Coordinate logistics including venue booking, catering, and communications.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Comfortable navigating digital platforms and HR software Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly

Key Requirements



Transport

Ability to commute to the Factory & Project Sites as required to fulfil HR duties.

Educational Background

A degree (or working towards a degree) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. CIPD Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards it is desirable but not essential.

Experience

No prior HR experience required; however, any internship, voluntary work, or administrative experience in an office or HR setting is advantageous. Familiarity with basic office procedures and professional communication is beneficial.

Technical Proficiency

Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Comfortable with digital tools and willing to learn HR systems (BrightHR & Smartsheet) Basic understanding of data entry and document management.

Legal & Compliance

Right to work in the UK. Understanding of or willingness to learn about GDPR, employment law basics, and HR compliance.

Personal Attributes

Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Discreet and trustworthy with confidential information. Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn. Professional demeanour and positive attitude.

Availability & Flexibility

Able to commit to a part-time schedule of 18 hours a week Flexibility to adjust hours during peak HR periods (e.g., recruitment drives, onboarding seasons). Willingness to work in a hybrid or office-based environment depending on company policy.

Part Time

Monday & Wednesday (8:00am - 5:00pm: 9 Hours each day) If other, flexible for the right candidate

Starting hourly rate

is 12.50/ hour Opportunity for professional development into Human Resources Manager within the business, including training programs and certifications, to enhance skills and knowledge in construction industry.
