Job Description

The Role



The Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting financial decision-making across the business. This includes producing accurate financial reports, managing budgets, and working closely with the Governance team to ensure compliance and strategic alignment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, particularly in Sage200 and Microsoft Excel and demonstrate a proactive approach to financial systems and process improvement.

Core Responsibilities



Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial commentary. Support budgeting and forecasting cycles. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Partner with the Governance team to ensure quality and security compliance and contribute to policy development. Assist in cash flow management and financial planning. Provide financial insights to support strategic initiatives and operational efficiency. Develop and maintain excel-based models and reports for financial analysis. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors as required. Assist in upskilling other members of the finance team on an ongoing basis.

Essential Skills & Experience



Proven experience as a Management Accountant, ideally within an MSP or technology-driven SME. Strong working knowledge of Sage200 and proficiency in Microsoft office suite, including Excel pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders. A recognised professional accounting qualification AAT Level 4 minimum Knowledge of UK accounting standards and VAT regulations.

Desirable Skills & Experience



Experience in financial system migration or implementation projects. Experience of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. Experience working with governance, compliance, or risk teams. Familiarity with MSP business models and service-based revenue recognition. Working towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

Salary Band



32 - 40 depending on skills, qualifications and experience

Reporting Line



Reports to: Head of Finance

Works closely with: Governance Team, Sales Team, Service Managers and Department Managers
