Position Summary:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Product Design Engineer to join our Product Development Team at our Wrexham offices. This pivotal role involves working Engineering Team & Product Managers, to ensure that commercially viable products are developed that can be manufactured within cost, to specification, and on time, in line with the product pipeline. The Junior Product Design Engineer will operate within the UK Engineering team on all aspects of engineering design, IP, testing, functionality, and material selection. The role involves working with the Senior Product Design Engineer to create detailed 3D models & 2D drawings of new product concepts. Supporting and making recommendations for adjustments to existing products for cost and production timeline improvements. They will have an excellent understanding of the technical feasibility of the product, including Plastics, Metals & Electronics, and will use their knowledge to recommend the most efficient and cost saving solutions to achieve the brief and deadline set.
Key Areas of Responsibility (including but not limited to):

  • Inter-department communication across the business for project coordination
  • Present confidently and understand the strategy and objectives when asked by any member of the business
  • Review and consider possible suggestions to support the business growth aspirations in line with targets set.
  • Create concept design ideas for all Ellison brands based on brief set by the NPD team
  • Create detailed 3D designs with SolidWorks software
  • Handle complex design assignments under minimal supervision
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and time schedule
  • Have an excellent understanding of manufacturing processes and their application
  • Create, examine and check 2D engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications
You, The candidate:
Are you an experienced Administrator adept at managing a large workload with excellent prioritising skills. Are you comfortable to challenge the status quo and do you enjoy creating new solutions with a hands on approach to problem solving.
Do you consider yourself to have the below
  • Bachelor’s degree or Certification in Project Management
  • Excellent CAD skills (Solidworks 2019) including 3D Modelling and 2D Drawings
  • Ability to create & validate mechanical drawings and specs, GD&T knowledge advantageous
  • Analytic and synergistic reasoning/ thinking, coupled with good communication skills
  • Organized and analytical, with relentless attention to detail
  • Accurate and methodical in project follow-up
  • Creative and out-of-the-box thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate well in fast-paced, multi- project, collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group
  • Technical knowledge and experience with:
      • Plastic Injection Molding, Metal Casting, Extrusion, Sheet Metal Fabrication & PCB Electronics
      • Materials Specs and emerging technologies

  • Work experience in the Arts and Crafts industry, preferred
