GTS was established in 1967 for the supply of electrical laminates and heat activated adhesive tapes to the flexible printed circuit industry.

We have since become one of Europe's leading and most progressive designers and manufacturers of flexible circuit materials and adhesive coatings with a reputation for quality, reliability, and durability.

GTS materials, supplied worldwide, have unlimited applications including flexible printed circuitry for use primarily in the automotive industry and insulating materials for power generation. Growth markets include the electric / hybrid vehicle market and the renewable energy sector.

GTS has three manufacturing / warehousing units in Ebbw Vale and has been based on the Rassau Industrial Estate since 1991, with subsidiary offices in Germany and France servicing its wide export business requirements. GTS also has significant levels of business in China and Korea demonstrating the Company's global reach.

Job Title offered - Junior Research Chemist

Based at the main Rassau Plant, the vacancy will be permanent subject to a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.

You will work as a member of the Technical Department team.

Duties & Responsibilities

This will involve

Studies of existing and new adhesive formulations.

GTS & third-party assessment etc.

Test & Analysis of competitive materials.

Investigations into new components and chemicals.

Support development of emulsion chemistry.

This will include

Lead development on new product innovations to compliment GTS's product lines.

Support the sourcing of alternative and 2nd sources of adhesive components.

Design projects including but not limited to providing documentation, project database support and reviews where required.

Coordination on projects

General day-to-day responsibility to produce laboratory samples, including samples prepared by the Technical Assistant.
Assisting with production trials, quality control testing of development materials etc. where required.

Attendance at Technical Department meetings.

Attend relevant chemical trade shows.

This will include

Ensure safe working practices for all Technical Departments

Responsibility over the generation of material safety data sheets (MSDS).

Support Senior Research Chemist with GTS product compliance including but not limited to REACH and RoHS regulations.

Auditing GTS processes to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.

To review and support GTS Technical Manager with:

Support Technical Team development through appropriate training opportunities where relevant.

Support in the further development of the continuous improvement performance culture

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Chemistry or relevant fields such as Material Science

Hands-on laboratory experience is essential

Excellent IT skills particularly in Microsoft software and ability to present information effectively

Able to work accurately from written and verbal instruction with minimal supervision

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across different departments

Organised, adaptable and able to manage priorities effectively

Experience in emulsion chemistry and project management advantageous

Flexible, proactive and willing to support wider business activities when required

Hours

Monday - Friday 38.75 hours per week
