An opportunity has become available for a part time, 28.5 hour per week, Band 6 nurse to join our small but motivated & creative outpatient team at Main OPD RSCH within The Corporate Directorate. It is RSCH's Main OPD unit offering care to patients from a wide-ranging demographic, many with complex health needs.
The department runs clinics covering many different specialities such as Medical and Surgical Cardiology, Respiratory, Chemical Pathology, Allergy, Digestive Diseases, Diabetic, Endocrine, Stroke, Anticoagulation, Vascular, ACHD and Haematology. The post holder will need to have the ability to understand the differing clinical needs & pathways for patients being cared for within these specialities. Therefore, experience in outpatients and the specialities would be helpful but training can be provided for any areas required for the successful applicant.
You will be part of a team responsible for driving outpatients forward and be able to represent this area at senior level. The successful candidate will be offered a supportive & friendly working environment with opportunities to develop further.
The role is split between working clinically and assisting in the organization and management of the department.

Patient Care Delivery
To assess, plan and implement care in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team for general outpatient clinics.
To update and maintain nursing procedures in patients records either manual or electronic as required.
To act as a direct point of contact during outpatient treatments. This will include providing advice on any treatments or procedures that may be needed. The post holder will be expected to provide advice on different range of treatments and diagnostic tests.
Work unsupervised providing nursing care as part of the multi-disciplinary team to patients, communicating with, and referring to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
Deliver a high standard of individualised holistic patient care to promote and maintain all aspects of his/her physical, social, cultural, and psychological wellbeing.
Maintain full awareness of current regimes, policies, and protocols.
To gain the knowledge and competence in venepuncture, ECG's, complex vascular dressings and Compression Bandaging if not already proficient.
Act in emergency situations being able to make clinical decisions under pressure.
Taking ownership of telephone enquiries promptly and courteously.
Maintain competence and knowledge within one's own area of speciality.
At all times work in a way that eliminates the risk of infection to patients. Follows the Trust's infection control and hand washing policies and Tendable safety audits.
Contribute to developments within the Main Outpatient Department.
Act as the patient's advocate at all times using the NMC Professional Code of Conduct as a framework for nursing practice.
Act as patients' chaperone where necessary, for medical examinations.
