Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday



North Somerset Environment Company Ltd. (NSEC) works in partnership with North Somerset Council and delivers the following services:

Maintaining 1,100km of North Somerset highways including surface repairs, winter maintenance, gully management, drainage and kerbing repairs, signage and linemarking, and 24/7 emergency response services. HGV Driver and mobile plant training, vehicle servicing and maintenance, event cleaning and other environmental and highway maintenance specialisms to commercial businesses

We are currently seeking a Junior Supervisor to join the North Somerset Environmental team in Sandford. The supervisor will be responsible for running a variety of day-to-day operations on the contract and will report to the supervisors.

What you'll be doing:

Manage and monitor health, safety, and environment on site, and regularly audit teams and any personnel under your control.

Work closely with and support the senior supervisor to achieve expected commercial, safety and productivity targets.

Responsible for gate checking all vehicles weekly and reporting all defects to the Operations/fleet manager.

Front line responsibility, alongside the other supervisors for service delivery and routine maintenance, winter maintenance and emergency response activities including standby duties as required.

Monitor the skills and experience of operatives within the teams and work with the senior supervisor and maintenance manager to plan training and development.

The ideal candidate will have:



Good knowledge of the highways network & operations.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external Stakeholders.

Leadership skills and team management experience.

Good communication skills: both verbal and written.

Computer literacy with a good understanding of Microsoft applications & able to use app based software.

Preparing progress reports, managing programmes and capturing change.

Good understanding of the composition of job packs and utility drawings.
