The Junior Technical Writer is responsible for creating and publishing user-facing digital content to support users of IDBS software products, along with producing documentation to support product releases. This role requires good networking skills, along with the ability to build professional relationships based on trust and accountability, and the ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner to enable user adoption.
This role reports to the User Adoption Manager and is part of the User Assistance team within the Product Development team. The position is based in our UK Head Office in Woking and will be office-based. The possibility of remote working for the suitable candidate could be considered.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Create and maintain high-quality user-facing digital content based on information provided by subject matter experts and your own investigations. You will use Microsoft Office, Paligo and Storyline to create online web pages, PDF documents, and video micro learnings, and JIRA and Confluence to manage your day-to-day work
Manage and co-ordinate the publishing of new and updated user-facing digital content to IDBS customers in accordance with User Assistance quality management processes and product release schedules
Analyse how user-facing digital content is consumed and identify areas for improvement
Maintain working relationships with Product Owners to ensure the User Assistance team is made aware of upcoming projects so they are delivered on time
The essential requirements of the job include:
Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in a STEM subject
Evidence of the ability to articulate and communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple activities at the same time
Proven aptitude to work independently and collaboratively
Show fluent written and spoken English language skills
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Ability to travel when needed, for example, for customer visits or training
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Being proactive to seek out information and contribute to group discussions
Creation of user assistance or training materials
Interest in learning about new software
