Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our facility, ensuring they are comfortable, healthy, and happy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess strong customer service skills to interact with pet owners effectively.

Responsibilities

Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising. Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment. Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Assist with the administration of medications as directed by veterinary professionals. Engage with pet owners, providing updates on their pets and addressing any questions or concerns. Support the team in heavy lifting tasks related to animal care and facility maintenance. Ensure all safety protocols are followed while handling animals and equipment.

Requirements

Previous experience in animal care or a veterinary setting is preferred but not essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required in the role. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays if necessary. Basic knowledge of animal behaviour and health is an advantage.
