We have an amazing opportunity for you...we are looking to recruit a Kennel Assistant to join our team!

The kennel assistant role is a 4 day on 4 day off rotation including some weekend and bank holiday cover as required. The hours of work are normally 8:00am-5:00pm with an hour off for lunch.

There may be the opportunity for the right candidate to complete an apprenticeship at the College of Animal Welfare, for the Veterinary Care Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship course, via distance learning. Click the link for further details:

We find this is an excellent introduction into the veterinary profession, allowing you to learn and develop your knowledge and skills whilst working.

Responsibilities include:





Inpatient care. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in kennel areas. Assisting Nurses & Vets. Laundry Stocking of kennel consumables. Supporting with new initiatives as required. Adhering to all SOP's. Communicating with clients effectively & maintaining a high professional standard of customer service and care. Maintaining a good working relationship with all members of the practice. Fulfilling the obligations of the rota, sick cover/on call rota & bank holiday cover. Carrying out any reasonable requests made by members of the management team.

Inpatient care to include:





TPR Medicating (under RVN guidance) Checking patency on IV lines Carrying out any procedures on inpatients highlighted (under supervision) Keeping accurate records, including, updating the hospital forms and computer; bill any meds or consumables used Keeping washing machine topped up o Folding away washing in appropriate cupboards Cleaning the ambulance daily and ensuring it is ready for transporting patients. Ensuring daily, weekly and monthly cleaning is carried out to a high standard in hospital, kennels, cattery & the laundry room & recorded in the cleaning folder. Ensuring the outside is kept free from litter & poo bins regularly emptied. Assisting the Vets and Nurses as and when appropriate. Being fully aware of all Health & Safety issues and reading all information supplied. Participating in appraisal and reviews. Carry out stock orders when required and assist with the biannual stock take.
