Kennel Technician (dog Care & Enrichment)

Esher, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About Royvon

At Royvon Dog Training & Hotels, we provide more than just a place for dogs to stay -- we provide care that supports their emotional wellbeing, confidence, and fulfilment while they're away from home.

We look after dogs staying with us for boarding, daycare, and residential training, and we pride ourselves on offering

individual, enrichment-led care

rather than one-size-fits-all routines. Every dog is different, and how they feel matters to us.

We're now looking for a caring, observant, and committed

Dog Care Assistant

to join our enthusiastic team.

About the Role

As a Dog Care Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting dogs day-to-day, helping them feel safe, settled, and emotionally supported while they're in our care.

This role goes beyond basic care. You'll be involved in observing dogs closely, supporting their individual enrichment needs, and helping create an environment where dogs can relax, engage, and thrive.

You don't need to be an expert when you start -- but you do need a genuine interest in

how dogs feel emotionally

and how thoughtful enrichment supports wellbeing.

Key ResponsibilitiesDog Care & Accommodation

Maintain clean, comfortable accommodation with fresh bedding, water, and high safety standards. Carry out regular health and wellbeing checks, reporting any changes in behaviour, mood, or appearance to the Dog Care Team Leader. Feed dogs according to owner instructions, including administering medication and treats as required. Groom or bathe dogs before departure so they leave feeling comfortable and cared for. Weigh dogs on arrival, weekly, and at departure, recording information accurately and flagging anything unusual.
Enrichment, Activities & Playgroup Support

Support dogs with

individual enrichment

, recognising that not all dogs enjoy the same activities. Facilitate calm, safe, and appropriate play and interaction where suitable, always prioritising emotional safety. Observe behaviour closely, managing stress levels and knowing when dogs need rest, space, or a quieter experience. Follow clear protocols for introductions and consult trainers when introducing new dogs to groups. Record and communicate observations clearly so enrichment and care remain consistent.
Customer Care & Communication

Welcome owners and visitors with a warm, professional approach. Share meaningful updates with owners about how their dog has been feeling and settling during their stay. Help ensure each dog's belongings are clean, organised, and ready for departure.
Teamwork & Communication

Work closely with the Dog Care Team Leader and wider team to ensure smooth daily operations. Take part in clear handovers, sharing important information about dogs' care, behaviour, and wellbeing. Contribute positively to a supportive, learning-focused team culture.
What We're Looking For

A genuine love of dogs and a desire to care for them properly. A keen interest in dog behaviour, wellbeing, or enrichment -- especially how dogs cope emotionally when away from home. Good observation skills and attention to detail. A calm, proactive attitude and willingness to learn. Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset. Previous experience working with dogs is helpful but

not essential

-- full training and support will be provided for the right person.
Why Join Royvon?

Work in a rewarding environment where dogs' wellbeing genuinely comes first. Be part of a passionate, supportive team that values learning and thoughtful care. Develop your understanding of dog behaviour, enrichment, and emotional wellbeing. Grow with a company that is committed to doing things properly, not just quickly.
If you're someone who wants to make a real difference to how dogs feel while they're in our care, we'd love to hear from you.

Where do you live and how would you travel to work? What interested you in applying to work at Royvon, and what stood out to you about how we care for dogs? Some dogs love play and interaction, while others find it stressful. How would you approach caring for both types of dogs? If you noticed a dog becoming quieter, more withdrawn, or less interested in activities than usual, what would you do? This role can involve early starts, physical work, and emotionally supporting dogs who may be unsettled. What helps you stay calm and focused in demanding environments?
