Hours (flexible):
After-school art clubs (ages

3:20-4:30pm
Weekend kids' art clubs (ages
4-12
):
Saturdays 10:00-12:15pm
Weekend and evening events: face painting, parties, festivals, workshops
Additional hours available during half terms and school holidays
Pay:
15-25 per hour
, dependent on experience (Please note this is paid for the length of the class and includes any preparation, set-up, and clear-up time. For example, a 1-hour class from 15:30-16:30 is paid at the full hourly rate.)

and her husband. We deliver high-quality, engaging art experiences for children and adults across Chester and the surrounding areas.

We are now looking for a
Creative Art Club Assistant / Leader & Face Painter
to join our expanding team and help inspire young artists.
The Role
This is a
part-time, freelance position
, ideal for a creative individual seeking flexible, well-paid work within the arts, education, or childcare sectors.
You will:
Support the delivery of after-school art clubs for ages
5-11
, and
occasionally lead sessions
, guiding children through structured yet fun creative activities
Assist with and sometimes lead
weekend kids' art clubs
for ages
4-12
Assist at and help deliver
holiday workshops, half-term sessions, and arty parties
Provide
face painting
at children's parties, events, festivals, and creative occasions (working independently during face-painting events)
Maintain a
positive, safe, and inclusive environment
for all children
Set up and pack down art materials and face-painting stations, following health & safety procedures
Assist with registration and check-in procedures
Photograph children's artwork and creative outcomes for social media
Communicate clearly and warmly with children, parents, and team members
Travel to venues across Chester, Cheshire, and surrounding areas
For larger groups, assistants are always provided. All materials, session plans, and guidance are supplied, with opportunities to develop confidence in leading sessions over time.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is:
Creative and confident with art activities
, with strong core artistic skills across a range of media
Friendly, patient, and engaging
, with a natural ability to build rapport with children and parents
Proficient in face painting
, able to paint a variety of designs with speed and accuracy
Organised, reliable, and punctual
, comfortable planning and supporting session elements
Safeguarding-aware
, with willingness to complete DBS and safeguarding training if required
Comfortable working
both independently and as part of a team
Flexible and mobile
, with the ability to travel between venues (access to own vehicle desirable)
Desirable (but Not Essential):
Experience in teaching, childcare, youth work, face painting, or creative facilitation
Art training or qualifications at any level
Experience leading or assisting with groups of children
Knowledge of the local area or links with schools
Confidence with public speaking and group leadership
Interest or experience in social media content creation or photography
