About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and motivated Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join the Mental Health Social Care Team in Kingston.
The successful candidate will form part of the full-time AMHP team, working on a frontline rota-either leading assessments or providing back-up support. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective application of the Mental Health Act, while promoting least restrictive options and positive outcomes for service users.
This position offers a dynamic working environment within a collaborative multi-agency framework, alongside hybrid flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out Mental Health Act assessments and associated statutory duties as an AMHP.
Facilitate formal or informal admissions and explore least restrictive alternatives.
Work closely with Crisis and Home Treatment Teams, medical professionals, and partner agencies to ensure effective gatekeeping of hospital admissions.
Provide specialist advice on the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act to colleagues, service users, and families.
Manage referrals for Guardianship and Community Treatment Orders (CTOs) in liaison with the AMHP Lead.
Develop and maintain strong multi-disciplinary partnerships across the health, police, and voluntary sectors.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England (SWE).
Approved AMHP status (current and valid).
In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983/2007, Care Act 2014, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Proven experience in frontline AMHP or Mental Health Social Care settings.
Excellent communication and risk assessment skills.
