We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and culinary arts, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our customers while adhering to food safety standards. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in meal preparation.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, according to established recipes and presentation standards. Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations. Assist in the development of new sushi recipes and menu items to enhance customer offerings. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and timely service during busy periods. Maintain inventory of sushi ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure freshness. Train junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices in food safety. Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process to ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant's high standards.

Qualifications

Driving is essential if you don't live local. Proven experience in a kitchen environment, specifically in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine is preferred. Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations. Excellent culinary skills with an emphasis on attention to detail in presentation. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff. A passion for cooking and creating unique culinary experiences for customers. Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the restaurant's operational needs.

Pay: 12.21-13.00 per hour
