Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting meal preparation and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about food and eager to learn in a dynamic environment, whether in a restaurant, catering service, or other culinary settings.

Responsibilities

Assist chefs and cooks in the preparation of meals and ingredients. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils. Help with food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and assembling dishes. Ensure adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations throughout all kitchen operations. Support the cooking team during service by preparing garnishes, plating dishes, and restocking supplies as needed. Participate in inventory management by tracking stock levels and reporting shortages to management. Assist with catering events by preparing food items according to specific menus and client requirements.

Skills

Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques. Familiarity with culinary terminology and practices is advantageous. Understanding of food safety principles and hygiene standards. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff. Willingness to learn new skills related to cooking, meal preparation, and catering services. Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is desirable but not essential.
