Job Description

Job Purpose

Responsible to the Chef for undertaking kitchen and cleaning duties in accordance with established schedules and routines.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Food handling and preparation as necessary



1.1 Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils and crockery are cleaned to the highest standard

1.2 Prepares food under supervision and direction of the Chef

1.3 Organises dry store, fridges and freezers to ensure food is stored appropriately following

FSA (Food Standards Agency) Guidelines

1.4 Assist residents in the preparation of their own meals

1.5 Assist support staff in the serving of meals

1.6 Ensure awareness of the specific dietary requirements of residents'

2. Cleanliness of dining areas



2.1 Assists support staff in clearing and cleaning tables after each meal service

2.2 Ensure tables are set up correctly for the next meal

2.3 Ensure dining room floors are swept clean and mopped after each meal

2.4 Ensure debris in downstairs kitchenette and upstairs cafe are cleared regularly and areas are cleaned to a high standard

3. Cleanliness of kitchen



3.1 Maintain a clean cooking and food preparation environment at all times

3.2 Clean and maintain the assigned areas of the home in accordance with established schedules, routines and standards, ensuring that at all times appropriate Health and Safety standards are met, and hazard signs displayed

3.3 Report any problems, defects, or malfunctions to the Maintenance Assistant

3.4 Monitors supplies of consumables, and advise Chef when stocks are deteriorating 3.5 Ensures that adequate supplies of domestic consumables are available in the kitchen area, e.g. toilet roll, soap, paper towels etc

3.6 Complete all necessary paperwork to ensure records are being kept appropriately

Experience:

- Previous experience working in a restaurant or kitchen environment is preferred
- Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
- Understanding of food safety practices and regulations
