Duties

Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. Support catering events by preparing food items according to specific menus and presentation standards. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the kitchen. Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting in ordering supplies when necessary. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. Participate in training sessions to improve culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.

Experience

Previous experience in a catering or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key. Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills is advantageous. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices for maintaining a clean kitchen environment is desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential. A passion for cooking and an eagerness to develop within the culinary field will be highly valued.
