Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that all food safety standards are upheld. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about cooking and eager to learn in a dynamic kitchen environment.

Duties

Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including chopping, slicing, and measuring. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces. Support chefs and cooks during meal preparation and service by following instructions and completing tasks efficiently. Ensure that all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of food items. Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen supervisor. Participate in catering events as required, assisting with setup and breakdown of service areas.

Skills

Basic culinary skills with an understanding of food preparation techniques. Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils. Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members effectively. Previous experience in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous but not essential.

Pay: 12.50-13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
