Overview
We are seeking a Kitchen Assistant to work at our new Convent with Care based in Brentwood.
St Joseph's Convent is a 23 bedroom home which provides high-quality care to the Religious Sisters of Mercy.
The ideal candidate will have a background in the catering/hospitality sector and will have experience of meal preparation, food safety, and kitchen operations. You will play a vital role in providing a catering service which ensures that nutritious and wholesome meals are offered. This is a Religious Community of Sisters of Mercy, part of the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy. The post holder will enable Sisters to remain in their Home, where they may be independent or receiving care whilst also respecting the religious ethos and practices of the Community.
Working hours:
Working 20 hours per week . The hours will be 10.00 - 14.00, Monday - Friday
13.70 per hour (weekday) - 17.74 per hour (weekend)

Duties:
Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the kitchen staff
Clean and sanitise work areas, utensils, and equipment
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchenware
Assist in receiving and storing food supplies
Help with inventory management and stock rotation
Follow all safety and sanitation procedures
Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations
You will have:
Level 2 in Food Hygiene (or willingness to undertake the qualification within 12 weeks)
Experience in the catering services is beneficial although not essential
Ability to work flexible hours to meet the business needs
Effective time keeping and time management
Waiting / serving experience
