Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring smooth food preparation, safety, and service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in a fast-paced environment.

37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday

. Working an 8 hour shift between 7:00 and 15:00. No evenings, weekends or bank holidays.

Fixed term contract until August 2026

Duties

Assist in meal preparation and food handling to support chefs and kitchen staff Prepare ingredients using proper knife skills and food safety procedures Support cooking activities, including assembling dishes and plating Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment Ensure proper storage of food items according to safety standards Help with catering events and large-scale food service operations Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant or food service setting is preferred Knowledge of culinary techniques, including knife skills and meal preparation Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures Experience working in the food industry or catering environments is a plus Strong understanding of kitchen operations, including food preparation and serving processes Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
