We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our culinary team in our kitchen. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in food preparation and kitchen operations within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with meal preparation, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and supporting the overall smooth running of the kitchen.
Prior experience in a restaurant or catering is not essential, as training will be provided.
We are willing to accept candidates who want full-time or part-time hours (however, part time ideally needs to be a minimum of 24 hours per week i.e. 2x 12 hour days.) The role will see the kitchen work over a 12 hour shift (07:00-19:00,) starting with breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are a small Care Home and therefore expect the candidate to really immerse themselves in the full kitchen role; including teas, coffees, tray presentation, organising shelves and drawers, cleaning & kitchen paperwork. Prior experience in care can be useful, as this role can extend to feeding support (especially during the breakfast hour.)
Duties
Assist with food prep.
Assemble dishes for service.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the living kitchen, main kitchen, dry store and dining room.
Adhering to food safety regulations.
Excellent meal presentation.
Follow health and safety procedures at all times to prevent contamination or accidents.
Assist with stock control, including receiving deliveries.
Serve meals to customers or staff as required, ensuring excellent customer service.
Support team members during busy periods to ensure timely delivery of meals.
Feeding duties for residents (training dependant.)
Maintaining a high standard of kitchen cleanliness.
Skills
Experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen environments is useful.
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
Strong organisational skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Good communication skills.
Positive attitude towards learning new skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
