Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. This role is essential in supporting food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service, strong attention to safety standards, and experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

The preparation of food complying with health and hygiene standards:
a. Raw and cooked foods to be prepared and stored separately

b. Dirty and clean foods to be prepared at separate sinks.

c. Hand basin to be used for hand-washing only.

Food to be cooked adequately whatever method is used. Meals to be served using suitable utensils and presented in an appetising manner To clean the kitchen and equipment by the appropriate method:
a. Washing of all equipment used in preparation and serving of each meal.

b. Daily cleaning of all work surfaces, sinks and floors.

c. Weekly cleaning of cookers and defrosting of refrigerators.

d. Periodic cleaning of cupboard interiors, storage containers, defrosting of freezers.

To be aware of an understand the importance of the following policies:
a. Fire precautions and procedures

b. Control of infection

c. Accidents/untoward incidents to the Service Users, Staff and Visitors

d. Complaints by patients, residents, staff and visitors

e. Standing financial instruction

Skills

Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic culinary techniques Familiarity with food safety protocols and handling procedures Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Good organizational skills and ability to follow instructions accurately Excellent teamwork and communication skills Prior experience in the food industry or kitchen environment is advantageous
Shift times: 15:15 - 20:15

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 15.00 - 20.00 per week
