Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that food preparation and kitchen operations run smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food, and who thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by chefs or cooks. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. Ensure adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times. Support catering events by preparing food items and assisting with setup and service as needed. Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting any shortages to the kitchen supervisor. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient workflow during busy service periods. Participate in training sessions to improve culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is not necessary, all we require from you is a good work ethic, and a keen interest in learning. A passion for cooking, meal preparation, and culinary arts is preferable Ability to work effectively as part of a team while managing time efficiently in a busy kitchen setting. Strong communication skills to follow instructions clearly and collaborate with colleagues.

Progression

We run teaching kitchens, many of our chefs and head chefs started off as Kitchen Assistants and worked their way up. If you want to take cheffing seriously, we are registered with MK college, and can discuss Apprenticeship schemes.
