We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role is essential in supporting the kitchen staff with various tasks, ensuring that our meals are prepared efficiently and safely. Previous experience in catering, restaurants, or culinary settings is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food preparation tasks as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. Support the cooking team by preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables and measuring out portions. Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, including proper storage of food items and maintaining hygiene practices. Help with serving meals during busy periods and assist in catering events as required. Participate in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen manager. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service times.

Requirements

Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within catering or restaurant settings. Basic cooking skills and knowledge of meal preparation techniques. Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced chefs. Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
