We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and excellent service For the residents living at Bryn Marl Nursing Home. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for catering, cooking, and food safety, with previous restaurant or kitchen experience preferred. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a dynamic team.

Duties

Assist with meal preparation and food presentation in accordance with established recipes and standards Support chefs and kitchen staff in daily operations, including ingredient organisation and stock replenishment Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work surfaces, utensils, and kitchen equipment Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times Help with serving meals to customers or guests as required Assist in setting up dining areas for service and clearing after meals Support catering events by preparing ingredients and assisting with event-specific tasks Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, restaurant, or kitchen environments is highly desirable Knowledge of food preparation, meal assembly, and basic cooking techniques Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately Flexibility to work shifts that may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills within the culinary field
