Flower Lane Autism Service

, part of

Your Choice Barnet

. This is a part-time role, perfect for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact while balancing other commitments.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join us and help promote choice and independence for people who we support. This is your opportunity to make a difference and develop your social care career within a leading and innovative team.

You will be working in a successful and well-run kitchen assisting our Cook. We provide lunch and refreshments throughout the day for the people that attend the day centre.

There will be domestic tasks to be completed and ensuring the standards of health, safety and hygiene is paramount.

Supporting our service users in making positive choices and getting to know them and supporting their needs is essential.

The Vacancy



As a

Kitchen Assistant

, you'll help prepare and serve meals for individuals with Autism and complex needs. You'll ensure the kitchen is clean, safe, and welcoming, and support the cook with food preparation and light domestic duties.

Key responsibilities include:



Preparing food and drinks (e.g. vegetables, snacks, heating ready meals) Serving meals and clearing away Washing up and cleaning kitchen areas Supporting health and safety and food hygiene standards Promoting independence, dignity, and choice for service users

What you'll need to succeed



Experience and knowledge about Autism or willingness to learn. Experience of supporting people with disabilities is desirable. Experience and knowledge of working in a busy kitchen and serving food canteen style. A high degree of personal responsibility including time and workload management and flexibility. Excellent all-round communication skills. Knowledge in areas such as food Hygiene, health and safety, moving and handling, risk management and safeguarding adults.
