Kitchen Assistant

to support our catering team in delivering nutritious, well-presented meals to our residents.

Role Overview

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will help with food preparation, service, and kitchen cleanliness to ensure our residents enjoy safe and pleasant mealtimes. You'll be an essential part of the team, working closely with the Head Cook and care staff to meet service users' dietary needs.

Key Responsibilities

Support the cook with basic food preparation (e.g. chopping vegetables, preparing desserts) Assist in serving meals and drinks to residents Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment Keep food preparation and storage areas clean, tidy, and hygienic Follow food hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times Help with stock rotation and storing food deliveries safely Set up and clear dining areas before and after meals Communicate with care staff to ensure individual resident dietary needs are met Provide a kind and respectful attitude toward residents at all times

Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or care home environment (preferred but not essential) Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to complete) Awareness of dietary needs and allergies (training provided) Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Reliable, punctual, and friendly personality Willingness to undergo a DBS check (required for role)

Pay: 12.70 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 42 per week

10 hour shift 12 hour shift 8 hour shift
