Key Responsibilities
Assist chefs
with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
Maintain cleanliness
and organization throughout the kitchen, including work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.
Wash and sanitize
pots, pans, utensils, and dishes by hand or using dishwashing equipment.
Manage waste disposal
, ensuring bins are emptied and kitchen waste is handled according to procedures.
Receive and store deliveries
of food and supplies, ensuring proper rotation and inventory practices.
Support the catering team
in serving food and beverages, and assisting with setting up/clearing down dining areas when required.
Adhere strictly
to all food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH regulations.
Assist with basic cooking tasks
as directed by the chef or kitchen manager.
Report any equipment malfunctions
or safety concerns to senior kitchen staff immediately.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant or in a similar catering environment is desirable, but not always essential as full training can be provided.
A good understanding of basic food hygiene and safety practices (Level 1 Food Safety certificate is a plus).
Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness.
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions effectively.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
Right to work in the UK.
