About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced
Kitchen Assistant
to join our care home team. Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will assist in preparing, cooking, and serving meals that meet the dietary and nutritional needs of our residents. You will also help maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen while adhering to all food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals.
Ensure meals meet individual dietary needs and preferences, including special diets.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment in line with food hygiene standards.
Assist in the receipt and proper storage of food deliveries.
Support in washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and kitchen areas.
Monitor and report any issues or shortages to the Registered Manager.
Requirements:
Experience:
Previous experience as a kitchen assistant or in a similar setting, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality environment.
Qualifications:
A valid Food Hygiene Certificate and knowledge of HACCP principles are essential.
Understanding of dietary needs for individuals with dementia, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities is highly desirable.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
A caring, positive attitude and commitment to improving the lives of residents.
