Swynford Manor is an exclusive wedding venue situated between Newmarket and Cambridge.

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality food services. This role involves assisting with meal preparation, pot wash duties , maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are upheld. The ideal candidate will have a passion for catering and cooking, with ideally some experience in a restaurant or food service environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with recipes and safety standards Support the catering team during busy service periods, ensuring timely delivery of meals Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and equipment Dishwashing and glass washing during service to keep the venue clean and hygienic Help with washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients as required Follow food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure hygiene standards are met Assist in setting up dining areas and sometimes serving food to guests when necessary Support inventory management by organising supplies and notifying supervisors of stock levels

Skills

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods Good organisational skills with attention to detail Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team Willingness to learn and adapt to different roles within the kitchen environment Basic understanding of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
