We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Care Home team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff with meal preparation and food safety practices. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, whether in catering, restaurants, or other culinary settings.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking and meal assembly. Step up to light cooking duties when required Support chefs with food preparation tasks, ensuring all dishes are prepared to high standards. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils. Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times. Help with the setup and breakdown of catering events as required. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen environment, such as catering or restaurant work, is preferred but not essential. Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques. Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to learn and take on new tasks within the kitchen setting. A passion for cooking and the culinary arts is highly desirable.
