We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff with food preparation and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in the culinary field, whether in a restaurant, catering, or other food service settings.

Duties

Assist in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients for various meals. Support meal preparation by following recipes and instructions provided by the head chef or cook. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen operations. Help with the cleaning and sanitising of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to ensure a tidy workspace. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service of meals during busy periods. Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting any shortages to the supervisor. Participate in catering events as required, ensuring that all food items are prepared according to specifications.

Skills

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm for culinary arts is key. Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is highly desirable. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members. A willingness to learn and take direction from experienced cooks and chefs. Basic cooking skills are an advantage, along with a passion for food preparation and presentation.

Pay: 12.21-14.00 per hour
