We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team. You will be responsible for assisting the Cook in the preparation of lunchtime meals to be delivered via the Company's Meals on Wheels service. You will also be responsible for maintaining a very high standard of hygiene in the wash-up and general kitchen area, while ensuring a constant supply of clean crockery and cutlery. All duties to be carried out in accordance with health, hygiene and safety legislation and customer care policies.
Working Hours:
The successful candidate will work 9am-1pm Mondays and 9am-12pm Tues-Friday (16 Hour Contract). Off Weekends!
Responsibilities
1. To maintain the standard of hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen, wash-up area, associated areas and all equipment.
2. To assist the Cook in the preparation, cooking and serving of lunchtime meals
3. To ensure a very high standard of personal hygiene and appearance.
4. To be aware and observe all safety and security procedures and to report any hazards and accidents observed as soon as possible to the Manager
5. To always adhere to and observe the rules/regulations for all fire and safety procedures
6. To participate in all training sessions and procedures as required
7. Contribute to a safe and secure working environment
8. Observe and record cooking times & correct temperatures
9. Washing, peeling and chopping vegetables and other food ingredients
10. Prepare and maintain dining and service areas
11. Serve customers and maintain customer care
12. To establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues and customers
13. Ensure H.A.C.C.P. Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and be fully conversant with the regulations.
Essential Requirements:
Knowledge of H.A.C.C.P.
Knowledge of work practice in relation to statutory legislation requirements within food industry
Can demonstrate good teamwork skills
Good interpersonal skills
Good communication skills written and verbal
Self-motivated and ability to motivate others
Can work under pressure
Can demonstrate good organisation skills
Interest in matters of healthy cooking initiatives
Reliable
Desirable:
Minimum of 1 year cooking experience within an established kitchen environment
Relevant qualification in health and food hygiene - e.g. Level 2 Basic Food Hygiene
Working knowledge of Information Technology
Experience of planning and implementing menu
Costing, budgeting and stock control
