Overview

We are seeking a reliable and caring Agency Kitchen Assistant to support care homes on a flexible basis. The role involves assisting with food preparation, cleaning duties, and maintaining high standards of hygiene, helping to ensure residents receive nutritious meals in a safe environment.

Previous kitchen or care home experience is desirable but not essential, as guidance will be provided on site. A positive attitude, adaptability, and the ability to work well within a team are essential.

Duties

Assist with meal preparation and food assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards Support the catering team during events and daily service, ensuring timely delivery of meals Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment Help with basic food safety procedures, including proper storage and handling of ingredients Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning Serve food to customers or staff as required, ensuring presentation standards are met Assist in stock rotation and inventory management to minimise waste and ensure freshness Follow health and safety regulations at all times to uphold a safe working environment

Experience

Previous experience in catering, restaurant work, or a similar food service environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided Knowledge of cooking techniques and meal preparation processes Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices in a professional kitchen setting Experience with food presentation and serving is advantageous A keen interest in culinary arts and willingness to learn new skills within the kitchen environment

Pay: 14.50-17.50 per hour
