Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting meal preparation and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn more about the culinary arts within a restaurant or catering environment.

Duties

Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen operations. Support the cooking staff by preparing ingredients and ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available. Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to uphold health regulations. Help with the plating of dishes and ensure that meals are presented attractively before serving. Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen manager. Participate in catering events as required, providing support to ensure successful service delivery.

Requirements

Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is preferred but not essential. Knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is an advantage. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with other kitchen staff. A passion for cooking and eagerness to learn new skills within the culinary field. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
