We have established a healthy, delicious, yet accessible food menu for people to appreciate while highlighting our ever-so-special single origin Malawi coffee.

Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our Westbourne team on food, who is passionate about food and eager to learn. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the culinary industry. Duties:
- Complete any food prep necessary for the day ahead

- Keeping on top of food date labelling

- Producing a range of food items for the coffee shop, including bagels, toasties, salads, etc.

- Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, equipment, and work areas

- Assist in receiving and storing food supplies and ingredients

- Help with inventory management, stock rotation & ordering

- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen

- Setting up and organising food stations and storage systems for service

- Completing opening/closing procedures

- Physically fit and able to stand and move around for entire shifts

- Washing up, general cleaning duties around the store

- Taking orders and supporting the team in the front with customer service

- Comfortable in managing a section alone, a strong ability to work independently is important in this role.

Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred

- Knowledge of basic food handling and safety practices is a plus

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, even under time of pressure

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately with time management

- Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 40 per week
