Puxton Park, one of Somerset's leading family attractions, is currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic

Kitchen Assistant

to support our busy catering operations. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a vibrant team, working in a fast-paced kitchen that serves high-quality food to a diverse range of visitors.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support our chefs in preparing food, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen & Equipment Maintenance:

Maintain a high level of cleanliness across all kitchen areas, including surfaces, floors, and equipment Conduct deep cleans of ovens, fryers, and other cooking appliances Wash and sanitise all kitchenware including utensils, pots, and pans Manage waste disposal and ensure bins are emptied and sanitised regularly

Food Preparation & Support:

Assist in preparing sandwiches, salads, platters, and light meals for our cafe and restaurant Support with catering for events such as parties, buffets, and afternoon teas Ensure ingredients are washed, chopped, stored, and rotated correctly Operate as a fry cook when required in both the main restaurant and cafe

General Support:

Assist chefs during service with plating and food prep Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times Perform other kitchen-related duties as required by the head chef or catering manager

Candidate Requirements

Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided A valid

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate

(or willingness to obtain one prior to starting) Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and hygiene Positive, can-do attitude and strong teamwork skills Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and during peak periods

Schedule:

8-hour shifts Availability across weekdays, weekends, and school holidays required
