Kitchen Assistant
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our new Wimborne team as a kitchen assistant working with and supporting our existing chefs. We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, eager to develop their skills and committed to delivering excellent service. Reliability, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude are key. You'll be joining a supportive team that values hard work and high standards.
Duties:
- Help to fulfil kitchen orders - assisting chefs with basic food preparation and helping to prepare simple menu items or assemble ingredients as directed
- Support the kitchen team during busy periods to ensure smooth service
- Keep kitchen work areas clean, organised and compliant with hygiene standards
- Complete any food prep necessary for the day ahead
- Keeping on top of food date labelling
- Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, equipment, and work areas
- Assist in receiving and storing food supplies and ingredients
- Assisting with inventory management, stock rotation & ordering
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen
- Setting up and organising food stations and storage systems for service
- Completing opening/closing procedures
- Physically fit and able to stand and move around for entire shifts (building has stairs)
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a customer service and kitchen or food service environment is preferred
- Knowledge of basic food handling and safety practices
- Food Hygiene level 2 certification or above is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, even under time of pressure
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately with time management
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- You must have the right to work in the UK
