Responsibilities

Assist in meal preparation and food preparation tasks as directed by the head chef or kitchen supervisor. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. Support the cooking team by preparing ingredients, chopping vegetables, and measuring out portions as needed. Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, including proper storage of ingredients and maintaining hygiene practices. Help with serving meals during busy periods and assist with catering events as required. Participate in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting any shortages to the kitchen supervisor. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and high-quality food presentation.

Requirements

Previous kitchen experience or culinary experience is preferred but not essential. Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices is highly desirable. Experience in meal preparation or cooking within a restaurant or catering environment would be an advantage. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy kitchen setting. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour when interacting with colleagues and customers alike.
