Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Kitchen Assistant/Kitchen Porter to join our culinary team. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring a clean, efficient, and safe environment for food preparation and service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food industry standards, food safety, and teamwork, with experience in food handling and basic culinary tasks. Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food handling tasks under the supervision of chefs or kitchen managers Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and sanitizing equipment Support food service operations by setting up stations and assisting with plating when needed Handle basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills Ensure adherence to food safety standards and proper storage of ingredients and supplies Assist in catering events or special functions as required Manage inventory by organizing supplies and notifying management of stock shortages Support the team during busy periods to ensure smooth kitchen operations

Qualifications

Previous experience in a restaurant, catering, or food service environment is preferred but not required Knowledge of cooking techniques, knife skills, and meal preparation is advantageous Familiarity with food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Strong teamwork and communication skills Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting and moving supplies or equipment A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the culinary industry
