Job Summary


Maesglas is a 26 bed care home for the elderly situated in the village of Holt, Wrexham. We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our non-clinical teams (kitchen and housekeeping) on a casual basis helping to cover in times of absence/high demand. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen and domestic services, supporting us to maintain our high standards.

Although this is a zero hours role, successful applicants who show the right attitude would be first to be offered any permanent roles arising in the future.

Shifts you might be expected to help cover include:



Housekeeping - 6 hour shifts worked between Monday to Sunday , 8am to 2pm.

Kitchen - 6 hour shifts worked between Monday to Sunday, 7am, to 1pm

or

1pm to 7pm.

Responsibilities

Supporting the home's cooks by assisting in the preparation of main meals and producing/serving light snacks according to established recipes and standards. If you have suitable cooking experience you may also be able to cover the cooks themselves in times of absence. Ensure all food safety and hygiene protocols are strictly followed during food preparation and storage. Support the cooks in catering events and special functions as required. Maintain day to day cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, dining area and kitchenette, including utensils, equipment, and work surfaces. Participate in deep cleans of the kitchen as required. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal and snack service e.g tea trolley

Requirements - Housekeeping



Maintain a clean and presentable environment throughout the home for residents and visitors alike. This will include cleaning resident bedrooms, toilets/bathrooms, offices, communal areas and entranceways. Participate in deep cleans of the home as necessary. Laundry services, including washing, drying and ironing of resident clothing, taking the utmost care with their belongings.

Requirements



Previous experience in a kitchen or housekeeping environment is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is key. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is highly desirable. Knowledge of COSHH and Infection Prevention and Control, is highly desirable. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take instruction from senior staff while also being self-motivated when required. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends as required, sometimes at short notice.
